The Lakes College
Singing, dancing and play are all part of the learning experience in Ella Martin’s classroom.
The primary teacher from The Lakes College in Northlakes has been recognised for her passion for creating individual learning journeys for disadvantaged students.
Ella is in the running to be win the 2017 QCT Excellence in Beginning to Teach Award.
A comprehensive knowledge of AUSLAN (Australian Sign Language) and developmental psychology has allowed Ella to help students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and low speech and language skills to kick social and academic goals.
Students say they feel they learn a lot from Ella in a short amount of time, and her lessons are always fun and interactive.
Acting Deputy Head of Primary Lisa Curtis says Ella’s flair for teaching is thoroughly engaging for students.
“Ella is that teacher who does not leave any student behind. She believes in all students and her love and passion for her students and for teaching is evident in the care she is shown by the parents of past and present students,” says Lisa.
Congratulations Ella on your nomination.
