Fitzgerald State School
Jill Green ensures the Australian Arts Curriculum comes alive across all subject areas at Fitzgerald State School, where students excel in national, state and local competitions under her leadership.
The award-winning Choral Conductor and Music and Drama teacher has helped the school excite the imagination of students for decades by assisting all teachers to embed the Arts in their teaching.
Fitzgerald State School (FSS) students have won state awards in the Wakakirri story dance troupe competition for the past five years in a row. FSS won a national Wakakirri title in 2004.
Jill has coordinated Mackay and District Choral Camps and Fanfare Music Festivals and is currently the Coordinator of the Mackay and District Big Sing Choral Workshop and the Instrumental Music Local Area Management Group, and is President of the Mackay Chapter of the Kodaly Music Education Institute of Australia.
She also coordinates the school’s Recorder Ensemble, Junior Choir, Senior Choir, Drama Club and its annual ‘Arts Spectacular’, which showcases year level items featuring dance and a musical production.
“With Jill Green’s ability ‘to engage, inspire and enrich all students, exciting their imagination and encouraging them to reach their creative and expressive potential’, she lives the Australian Curriculum.”
FSS Principal Mike Anderson says Jill has provided the highest standard of music lessons and engaging pedagogy for 35 years, inspiring students to develop their artistic potential.
Congratulations Jill on your nomination.
