Yeronga State School
Patient, calm, professional, and inspiring – these are the words that Kalomira Masselos’s colleagues use to describe her.
The Yeronga State School primary teacher’s commitment to her classroom never wavers. She brings a wealth of knowledge and a nurturing temperament to the school community, which in return holds her up as the standard to aspire to.
Kalomira’s genuinely caring nature lets her develop deep understandings of her students as individuals, allowing her to work with each and every student to achieve significant growth in the classroom.
“Kalomira’s classes are always engaging and her students love her. The thorough, well planned teaching that happens in her classroom is inspiring,” colleague Sonja Wise said.
“She is my ‘go to’ for guidance and questions regarding curriculum and my classroom,” she said.
A true team player, Kalomira is a constant source of encouragement and support to her teaching colleagues. She encourages her fellow teachers to participate in new professional development opportunities and often takes student teachers under her wing to guide them in their early career development.
She continually demonstrates her commitment to growing and supporting the larger school community, and her widely known reputation often sees parents requesting that their children be placed in her classes.
Perhaps Kalomira’s colleague Sonja summarised her character best when she said “she makes me want to be a better teacher.”
Congratulations Kalomira on your nomination.
