Leigh-Ann Hastie

Albany Hills State School

Just like the skipping club she runs at lunch time for students, Leigh-Ann Hastie’s classroom is known for being full of happy and well-supported children.

The Albany Hills State School teacher regularly meets and collaborates daily with her fellow Prep teachers to ensure that the primary school experience is as seamless as possible for her students.

For her outstanding efforts and commitment to her practice, Leigh-Ann has been nominated for a Queensland College of Teachers Excellence in Teaching Award.

Leigh-Ann consistently seeks out a range of professional learning opportunities to foster the best possible teaching environment for her students, using the Seven Steps of Writing and Jolly Phonics Professional Development program daily.

Parents are included in classroom daily morning routines and her door is open for communication at the end of each schooling day.

Congratulations Leigh-Ann on your nomination.
