Michelle Luhrmann

Sheldon College
A skilled practitioner with over 26 years teaching experience and a strong track record in leading high performing teams,Sheldon College Early Learning Director, Michelle Luhrmann has been described by peers as the “epitome of excellence” in the Early Learning profession. Michelle is directly responsible for Curriculum Implementation and for the general care and education of all children enrolled in Early Learning programs through to Preparatory at Sheldon College. 
 
Levering off a strong base in teaching in Early Childhood Education and experience in lecturing in the tertiary education sector, Michelle holds a Bachelor of Education Degree, an Associate Diploma of Early Childhood Education and a Postgraduate Degree in Child and Family Studies. As the Director of Early Learning, Michelle works with a dynamic group of teachers who are responsible for ensuring that the Early learning programs offered at Sheldon College are second-to-none. ​

Under Michelle’s leadership, the Sheldon College Early Childhood Education (ECE) programs are exceeding the national standards in all aspects of its operations. Michelle has developed an exceptional Mentoring Program which asks team members to identify their strengths, interests, and areas they would like to undertake additional professional development in. Building on the Mentoring Program, educators are recognised and rewarded for their achievements, and Michelle provides positive praise and constructive feedback on a regular basis.

Fostering an environment of learning and continuous improvement, Michelle uses her extensive experience in ECE, to encourage innovation and support teachers to become lifelong learners and to be the best version of themselves.

Recognising that every teacher brings unique qualities, skills and abilities to their classrooms, Michelle supports the teaching team to harness these strengths to inspire hope, ignite imagination and instil a love of learning in their students. 

Michelle works with her team to create a shared vision for excellence in teaching and learning and stays abreast of current trends and best practice in education. Best-selling author on leadership, Simon Sinek says that “if your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” Michelle embraces this leadership style in her daily activities at the College.
