Reuben Birchley

Cunnamulla P-12 State School

Student attendance, behaviour and academic results have improved under Reuben Birchley, who has transformed the learning environment of his classrooms.

Reuben has introduced a student-led learning environment in which students set high expectations for themselves and manage their own learning through a highly individualised plan (HIP), which includes the support of staff and families.

He has been praised for his work ethic and has taken on a number of challenges, including working across both primary and secondary year levels, and with disengaged and high-needs students.

Principal Karen Campbell says Reuben is a dedicated teacher.

“By knowing his students, being creative in his approach and by building strong partnerships with staff, families and other support workers he has built an inclusive learning environment where his students are engaged and succeeding to the best of their ability,” Mrs Campbell says.

“As a teacher, Reuben has a strong work ethic and continually strives to modify and individualise each child’s learning to ensure success,” she says.
“He is well-respected by all staff and is a great team member.”

His comprehensive curriculum knowledge helps him to successfully differentiate his teaching for each student.

Congratulations Reuben on your nomination.
