Smithfield State High School
Les étudiants du Smithfield State High School apprennent leur sujet de sciences humaines en français.
If you can read that, you might be a student in Tangi Montfort’s French Language Immersion Program.
If you can’t, it translates as ‘students at Smithfield State High School are learning Humanities in French’.
In his 1.5 years teaching at Tropical North Learning Academy Smithfield State High School (TNLASHS), Tangi has successfully redesigned the school’s language department.
Using evidence-based research and the school’s data, Tangi has maximised learning opportunities and created an overwhelming sense of engagement in the classroom by teaching the subject of Humanities in French.
Head of Department for Humanities Dan Kaggelis says Tangi’s expert capacity to scan and assess, prioritise, review and act to implement a program is above and beyond the level of a beginning teacher.
“Tangi’s passion for education is clear in everything he undertakes,” Dan says.
His commitment to professional growth is second to none.
Tangi is also an integral and valued member of the Indigenous Leaders of Tomorrow team.
Together with neighbouring primary schools, he is working to create a regional languages strategy.
Congratulations Tangi on your nomination.
